Anne-Fay (algemene versie)
Singer Anne-Fay re-traveled the diaspora of her family through Aruba, Curaçao, Surinam and Ghana to make music about her roots. A physical and mental journey that has been strongly influenced by the transatlantic slavetrade. Anne-Fay is a mixed woman with a pale skin and a black mother. Where do you place yourself in a societal context regarding cultural appropriation and the Dutch colonial past, when you have black roots and white privilege? These questions resulted in april of 2021 in an album titled REASPORA.
Oerol has entered into a creative partnership with the Rotterdam music festival Motel Mozaïque (MoMo). Harry Hamelink, artistic director of MoMo, is programming the music for this edition in a new form and is doing this together with young talented artists and music programmers. It stands for a change of course in which we offer interesting musicians to use Oerol as a development site and workshop for new work.
