Oerol corona-update

The developments around the coronavirus are rapidly succeeding each other and we are anticipating changes every single day. At this moment we cannot decide if or in what shape our festival at Terschelling might go ahead.

Oerol and corona: we are anticipating

On Monday evening March 23, the Dutch government imposed a ban on events until June 1, 2020. Understandably, this measure has a huge impact on our festival and the rest of the cultural sector in The Netherlands.

The health and safety of our employees, our audience, the makers, bands and artists always prevails. Right now it is clear that Oerol cannot take place in the original format.

We will let this sink in for a moment and will tell you more via this website as soon as possible.

Festival preparation time

For Oerol, a certain preparation time is crucial in order to be able to build, rehearse, produce and communicate. This means that if creators and staff cannot start the preparations at the end of April, there can be no question of a fully-fledged festival.

Keep an eye on this website for the latest developments.

Stay safe on a distance!

Team Oerol

Oerol is working at home

To ensure that everyone remains healthy, Team Oerol will be working from home until 6 April. The office on Terschelling is closed. This means we may be a little less accessible, but we can still do a lot by e-mail. You can reach us by phone on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 09:00 to 13:00 hours.

Shout out!

A shout out to all festivals, performances and concerts that are cancelled right now: we sympathize with you and realize what this requires from you, both organizationally and financially!

We will keep you informed of developments here and through our social channels where we will share initiatives and creative ideas that are now emerging. In this way we hope to support all creators and artists who are hit hard by the coronameasures.
