Festival Rules
To make this edition of Oerol another successful event, we ask you to adhere to these rules:
1. Don’t be late! All shows start at the time printed on your ticket and/or in the programme magazine. Be in time, or you won’t be allowed to the show.
2. If a show for some reason (for example, because of the weather) is canceled before half of the running time has been reached, you can receive a refund for your ticket.
3. Don’t take small children to shows meant for adults. Both crying infants and playful toddlers can be a nuisance to the performers and the public. Small children are barred from shows meant for an adult audience. There will be a special morning event for kids on Wednesday, the 16th of June.
4. Park your bicycle or car on the allocated parking spaces. Park your bicycles in the custom built bicycle racks or park it on the spaces designated by the Oerol employees. And remember where you’ve parked your bicycle! A note about cars: please park your car outside of the villages as much as possible. The Westerkeyn will feature a large parking space for both cars and bicycles.
5. Switch off your phone! During shows, calling or texting is not allowed, as it can be a nuisance to performers and visitors alike.
6. Hold off smoking until after the show. Smoking during the show is not allowed. Starting a campfire is prohibited at all times and places.
7. Shows are not intended to amuse your pets. Dogs and other furry friends are not allowed to accompany you to any show.
8. Keep your tickets and passport at hand at all times. Oerol employees will check them before every show.
9. Keep the island clean: throw your garbage in the trashcans, don’t litter. Oerol is one of the last festivals where beer is still served in glasses. Not only does it make for better tasting beer, it’s also better for the environment. Please return your glasses to the bar so no glass ends up on the ground or in the street.
10. It is prohibited to take pictures or make video and audio recordings during shows and performances without first obtaining written consent from the artist, performer or the Oerol organizers.
11. Stay on the paths. Oerol is famous for its unique system of signs. Those are meant to be enjoyed by everyone, not as a souvenir or keepsake.
12. Don’t take your own alcohol into the festival terrain. Oerol is a gracious host and will not leave you high and dry. A broad range of libations and drinks will be served at the bars on the Green Beach and the Westerkeyn.
13. Camping without permission is prohibited across the entire island.
