It's good to know
Oerol wheelchair friendly
A large amount of the theatre locations is also accessible to wheelchairs and their users. The programme clearly indicates this.
Cash or ATM?
You can pay using your ATM card at the ticket counters on the island. On the Westerkeyn and at the merchandise stores, there’s no possibility of paying with your ATM card. ATM’s can be found in West and in Midsland, furthermore it’s possible to use your ATM card to withdraw extra money in the supermarket.

What to arrange before a visit to Oerol?
Between the 15th and the 24st of June 2011 it’s that time again: the entire island of Terschelling will be focused on theatre shows, musical performances and street theatre acts during the Oerol festival. In every barn, shed or hollow in the dunes, wherever you are, you’re smack in the middle of the festival terrain! The festival doesn’t stop but goes on all day long and in at night all the bars and pubs of Terschelling join in the festive atmosphere.
So, what do you need to take care of before you set off for days of festival fun?
Passport and tickets
Your Oerol passport is the start of a good Oerol experience. It allows you entrance to the festival and to a large amount of the programming that you can enjoy for free using the passport. It also contains a useful map with all the festival locations. Check the Ticket Sales page to see where and how you can purchase your festival passport and your tickets.
Accommodation
Make sure to reserve your accommodation on the island before you leave. Search the website of VVV Terschelling for the availability of trailers, cabins or hotels. If you like camping, you should be able to find a spot, but reserve the camping spot just in case. See the page Travel and Accommodation for more information.
The trip to Terschelling
To arrive at Terschelling, you’ll have to make a short or longish trip. We advise you to take the train to Harlingen because of the lack of parking space in Harlingen and on the island. From there, you can take the fast or slow ferry to Terschelling. Check the page Travel and Accommodation for more information.
At Oerol
During the festival the free Oerol daily paper will come out every day containing reports, festival news, programme information and possible programme changes. The Oerol daily is the only morning paper of Terschelling which makes it (together with a cup of coffee) indispensable to starting your day. If you have any questions about programme changes, theatre locations or starting times, feel free to inform after anything at the Oerol information desks. You’ll find the information desks at the harbor in West and on the Westerkeyn. They’ll be open from 09.00 until 19.00.
