Resonances, harmonies and dissonants The Oerol 2011 programme focussed particularly on the phenomenon of sound. Literally and figuratively: sounds of the landscape, resonances from society and the sounds of desire, melancholy and passion. In dialogue with the landscape in a spontaneous orchestration of harmonies and dissonants. Under the theme ‘the sound of an island’, Oerol invited the audience to listen in to the island’s landscape.
During the thirty years Oerol has been on Terschelling, the island has turned out to be an extremely fertile nursery for artists and theatre-makers. The ideas and productions resulting from this have in turn fed the festival and contributed to the permanent, vital development of the festival.
