Street Theatre 2011

Diversity and surprises on the street As always at Oerol, street theatre could be experienced at the most unexpected times and places. Ambushed, enticed along and blown away by artists who have graced Oerol during the past thirty years, or surprised by the new generation of street talent from the Netherlands and further afield.

Ten days long, the streets of West Terschelling and Midsland were a playground for street artists. For example, Motion House from England brought the metro to Terschelling with their expressive dance production Underground. The ever-unconventional Erik Groen and his friends brought an irresistible spectacle on stilts to the streets. Oerol veterans Babok and Whalley Range Allstars this year worked together on an impressive, life-sized puppet show. At the end of every day, street bands ensured a great atmosphere around the pavement cafés.

Thanks in part to Terschelling’s business community, Oerol was again able to create an exciting programme.
